Getting started

Install

  1. Download the installer.
  2. Run it. Windows SmartScreen will warn you, because this build is not code-signed, choose More info, then Run anyway. The SHA-256 of every file is published so you can check what you downloaded against what was built.
  3. The installer is per-user. It does not ask for administrator rights and installs into your own profile.

Everything RPCTION needs ships inside it, including the text-recognition model. Nothing is downloaded during installation or afterwards.

First run

  1. RPCTION starts into the system tray and shows a short setup.
  2. Grant screen access when Windows asks. RPCTION cannot see what you are pointing at without it.
  3. Press CTRL SHIFT R anywhere.
  4. Move the pointer. The thing under it is outlined and labelled.
  5. Click. The obvious action runs and the overlay disappears.

Your first useful thing

Find a screenshot someone sent you that has a phone number or a link in it, the kind you would normally retype. Activate RPCTION, point at it, click. It is on your clipboard.

If nothing is highlighted

Give it a moment. Recognition runs on the region under your cursor first and the rest of the screen a beat later, so a target at the edge of a large display can take a second longer. If it stays empty, see troubleshooting.
